As one of the creators of the micro-blogging service Twitter, and author of 140 Characters: A style guide for the short form, I sat with BBC News for a brief interview on entrepreneurship.

My key piece of advice is this:

“The simpler you make your idea, the easier it is… to understand the market and get it out there”.

Two Years Ago on Adobe TV

I appeared for the original debut of Adobe TV, talking about my experiences with the Mac after hours, and all about iPhone.

I no longer work at Adobe, but have gone full time with DollarApp and my latest project 140 Characters. Adobe has recently relaunched the site, allowing me to embed this well-produced video here.

“Why A Dollar” 2009 Edition

This year has seen the advent of “In-App Purchase” from Apple, along with many other enhancements to the iPhone OS. These innovations change the landscape of the one-dollar app.

The folks at FITC Mobile have invited me to deliver an update to the speech that launched DollarApp, entitled “Why A Dollar“. I’ll be talking about the strategy behind “140 Characters“, the hypertext book app coming this Fall.

By all accounts, this conference is not only action-packed, but also a huge party. Check out the highlight reel from the last one:

DollarApp Stands for Quality

Associated Press visited the DollarApp office last week, to discuss the controversy over a recent iTunes App that undermined Apple’s reputation for quality:

‘Baby Shaker’ iPhone Game Sparks Outrage (see 0:36 to 1:08):

Dom: “So this is an application designed for President Obama when he was running for office…”

[voiceover] Independent developer Dom Sagolla helped build the iPhone App for the Obama campaign, and says ‘Baby Shaker’ needed to be pulled.

Dom: “I wasn’t too impressed, and the concept itself is a little bit distasteful actually. I have a toddler, so I wouldn’t use that app.

There’s a certain expectation with the iPhone platform. It’s an expectation of quality, it’s an expectation of a certain experience. We as developers try to trust Apple to help us make the right decisions.”
